Welcome to the Dutch Club Wellington
We are a club for Dutch immigrants, expats and anyone who is interested in anything Dutch. We have our own club house ‘Avalon House’ and we organise several annual events as well as weekly social activities. Every Sunday we have our Social Sunday where you are welcome to enjoy a coffee and a kroket or something a bit stronger. Twice a month, on the first and the third Wednesday of the month, we meet for coffee and lunch, with kroketten, broodjes and soup in the winter. Every Tuesday our card enthusiasts meet for Klaverjassen. Check the upcoming events and activities out here.

Tulip Sunday

This is our annual big event. It is when we ‘emerge’ from the clubhouse onto the wider Wellington scene. It’s an important event for our club. Not just for our members, but also for the wider Wellington Community.

The Dutch Community
‘Gezelligheid’ at its best
The Wellington Dutch Community
In the late 1940’s and 1950’s a big stream of Dutch immigrants made their way to New Zealand, to build a new life. Many of them arrived by boat. To this day new Dutch immigrants still arrive in this country, with their own dreams and wishes. The Dutch Club Wellington provides a place and space for old and new “Dutchies” to come together to celebrate, exchange and preserve the Dutch heritage, Dutch language and Dutch cultural traditions in the Wellington region. Have a look around at our website or Facebook page. We regularly organise annual events and social activities for our members and their guests and we hope to see you soon at one of our events, for a coffee and a chat, or a game of pool or cards.
Subscribe to our mailing list and receive up to date information about our upcoming events.
The Committee
Vele handen maken licht werk.
Many hands make light work.
The Committee
As a social club the Dutch Club Wellington relies on volunteers, to turn on the heater in the Winter, make coffee for our members and organise events to name just a few things. Running the club successfully is in the hands of the committee who is helped by many volunteers. These people work together to create an environment where members can meet, get to know new people, have interesting conversations and engage in common activities. Contact us if you are interested in joining our committee. We always have clogs that need filling.
Our current committee exist of ten members who meet monthly and keep the club ticking. They do this with the much appreciated help of other volunteers.
